Our teams main goal was to educate and provide support on food insecurity. 1 in 3 families in LA County face food insecurity. There are about 110 students at our school, that would mean about 30 of our classmates could be struggling to eat once they get home. When students are on campus they eat breakfast and lunch, but they're not guaranteed a dinner, and we truly don't know if they eat. We were able to give out about 75 Thanksgiving baskets before the Thanksgiving Break at our school. For Spring Break we gave out 30 Fodo Kits. Everyone who needed/wanted one received one. It made us feel extremely proud and grateful to have been able to do that with the donations we received during our food drive.
Reflection
We feel like our projects were very successful, and we are very proud of what we accomplished. We wouldn't really change anything about what we did. The only thing we would add is that we wish we would have asked for donations directly from our local grocery stores. Next year we will definitely do that.
